RESUMO

Two tryptophan compound classes 5- and 6-borono PEGylated boronotryptophan derivatives have been prepared for assessing their aqueous solubility as formulation of injections for boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). The PEGylation has improved their aqueous solubility thereby increasing their test concentration in 1 mM without suffering from toxicity. In-vitro uptake assay of PEGylated 5- and 6-boronotryptophan showed that the B-10 concentration can reach 15-50 ppm in U87 cell whereas the uptake in LN229 cell varies. Shorter PEG compound 6-boronotryptophanPEG200[18F] was obtained in 1.7 % radiochemical yield and the PET-derived radioradioactivity percentage in 18 % was taken up by U87 tumor at the limb of xenograft mouse. As high as tumor to normal uptake ratio in 170 (T/N) was obtained while an inferior radioactivity uptake of 3 % and T/N of 8 was observed in LN229 xenografted mouse.

RESUMO

The human health risk assessment through the dermal exposure of metal(loid)s in dust from low latitude and high geological background plateau cities was largely unknown. In this study, the road dust samples were harvested from a typical low-latitude plateau provincial capital city Kunming, Southwest China. The total concentration and dermal bioaccessibility of heavy metal(loid)s in road dust were determined, and their health risks and cytotoxicity on human skin keratinocytes were also assessed. The average concentrations of As (28.5 mg/kg), Cd (2.65 mg/kg), Mn (671 mg/kg), and Zn (511 mg/kg) exceeded the soil background values. Arsenic had the highest bioaccessibility after 2 h (3.79%), 8 h (4.24%), and 24 h (16.6%) extraction. Although soil assessment methods showed no health risk in the total heavy metals assessment, based water assessments showed bioaccessible heavy metals As, Mn, Ni and Cd have non-carcinogenic risks for human. In addition, the dust extracts suppressed the cell viability, increased the Reactive oxygen species (ROS) level and DNA damage, and eventually activated the mitochondria-mediated apoptosis pathway, evidenced by the upregulation of Caspase-3/9, Bax, and Bak-1. Cadmium was positively correlated with the mRNA expression of Bax. Both dermal bioaccessibility and cytotoxicity should be considered for accurate human skin health risk assessment of heavy metals in road dust, which may provide new insight for accurate human health risk assessment and environmental management.

RESUMO

Since the 2000s, an increasing number of new psychoactive substances have appeared on the illicit drug market. ß-keto-arylcyclohexylamine compounds play important pharmacological roles in anesthesia; however, because these new psychoactive substances have rapidly increasing illicit recreational use, the lack of detailed toxicity data are of particular concern. Therefore, analysis of their metabolites can help forensic personnel provide references and suggestions on whether a suspect has taken an illicit new psychoactive ß-keto-arylcyclohexylamine. The present study investigated the in vitro and in vivo metabolism and metabolites of three ß-keto-arylcyclohexylamines: deschloro-N-ethyl-ketamine, fluoro-N-ethyl-ketamine and bromoketamine. In vitro and in vivo models were established using zebrafish and human liver microsomes for analysis of Phase I and Phase II metabolites by liquid chromatography-high-resolution mass spectrometry. Altogether, 49 metabolites were identified. The results were applied for the subject urine samples of known fluoro-N-ethyl-ketamine consumer screen analysis in forensic cases. Hydroxy-deschloro-N-ethyl-ketamine, hydroxy-fluoro-N-ethyl-ketamine and hydroxy-bromoketamine were recommended as potential biomarkers for documenting intake in clinical and forensic cases.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Although the association between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and vitamin C has been well studied, the effects of dietary potassium intake on this relationship are still unclear. Thus, this study aimed to determine the effects of dietary potassium intake on the association between vitamin C and NAFLD. METHODS: We performed a cross-sectional learn about with 9443 contributors the usage of 2007-2018 NHANES data. Multiple logistic regression evaluation has been utilized to check out the affiliation of dietary vitamin C intake with NAFLD and advanced hepatic fibrosis (AHF). Subsequently, we plotted a smoothed match curve to visualize the association. Especially, the analysis of AHF was conducted among the NAFLD population. In addition, stratified evaluation used to be developed primarily based on demographic variables to verify the steadiness of the results. Effect amendment by way of dietary potassium intake used to be assessed via interplay checks between vitamin C and NAFLD in the multivariable linear regression. RESULTS: In this cross-sectional study, we found that vitamin C was negatively related to NAFLD and AHF. The relationship between vitamin C and NAFLD was different in the low, middle and high potassium intake groups. Furthermore, potassium intake significantly modified the negative relationship between vitamin C and NAFLD in most of the models. CONCLUSION: Our research showed that potassium and vitamin C have an interactive effect in reducing NAFLD, which may have great importance for clinical medication.

RESUMO

Drug-impaired driving poses a significant risk of collisions and other hazardous accidents, emphasizing the urgent need for simple and rapid roadside detection methods. Oral fluid, as an easily collectible and non-invasive test material, has gained widespread use in detecting drug-impaired driving. In this study, we have devised a method for direct sampling using a carbon fiber bundle combined with flame ionization mass spectrometry. The essence of this method lies in the synergy between the adsorption properties of carbon fiber and the plasma characteristics of the flame. Leveraging the strong adsorption capabilities of the carbon fiber bundle allows for the use of a minimal sample size (<100 µL) during sampling, presenting a distinct advantage in the roadside inspection and sampling process. Throughout the flame ionization process, proteins and salts within the oral fluid matrix adhere well to the carbon fiber bundle, while small molecule targets can be efficiently desorbed and react with charged species in the flame, leading to ionization. The results demonstrate the successful development of carbon fiber-sampling combined flame ionization mass spectrometry, capable of qualitative and quantitative analysis of drugs in oral fluid without the need for sample pre-treatment. Its quantitative capabilities are sufficient for real sample detection, providing an effective analytical method for the roadside detection of drugs in oral fluids.

RESUMO

Lupus Nephritis (LN) is an autoimmune disease affecting the kidneys, and conventional drug studies have limitations due to its imprecise and complex pathogenesis. Therefore, the aim of this study was to design a novel Lupus Nephritis-targeted drug with good clinical due potential, high potency and selectivity by computer-assisted approach.NIK belongs to the serine/threonine protein kinase, which is gaining attention as a drug target for Lupus Nephritis. we used bioinformatics, homology modelling and sequence comparison analysis, small molecule ab initio design, ADMET analysis, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulation, and MM/PBSA analysis to design and explore the selectivity and efficiency of a novel Lupus Nephritis-targeting drug, ClImYnib, and a classical NIK inhibitor, NIK SMI1. We used bioinformatics techniques to determine the correlation between lupus nephritis and the NF-κB signaling pathway. De novo drugs design was used to create a NIK-targeted inhibitor, ClImYnib, with lower toxicity, after which we used molecular dynamics to simulate NIK SMI1 against ClImYnib, and the simulation results showed that ClImYnib had better selectivity and efficiency. Our research delves into the molecular mechanism of protein ligands, and we have designed and validated an excellent NIK inhibitor using multiple computational simulation methods. More importantly, it provides an idea of target designing small molecules.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.

RESUMO

The light-harvesting (LH) and reaction center (RC) core complex of purple bacterium Roseiflexus castenholzii, B880-B800-RC, are different from those of the typical photosynthetic unit, (B850-B800)x-B880-RC. To investigate the excitation flowing dynamics in this unique complex, two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy is employed. The obtained time constants for the exciton relaxation in B880, exciton relaxation in B800, B800 → B880 energy transfer (EET), and B880 → closed RC EET are 43 fs, 177 fs, 1.9 ps, and 205 ps, respectively. These time constants result in an overall EET efficiency similar to that of the typical photosynthetic unit. Analysis of the oscillatory signals reveals that while several vibronic coherences are involved in the exciton relaxation process, only one prominent vibronic coherence, with a frequency of 27 cm-1 and coupled to the B880 electronic transition, may contribute to the B800 → B880 EET process.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is one of the most common disorders in otorhinolaryngology, affecting up to 10% of outpatients visiting otolaryngology departments. In addition, 50% of hoarseness cases are related to LPR. Pepsin reflux-induced aseptic inflammation is a major trigger of LPR; however, the underlying mechanisms are unclear. The nucleotide-binding domain and leucine-rich repeat protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome has become an important bridge between stimulation and sterile inflammation and is activated by intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) in response to danger signals, leading to an inflammatory cascade. In this study, we aimed to determine whether pepsin causes LPR-associated inflammatory injury via mediating inflammasome activation and explore the potential mechanism. METHODS: We evaluated NLRP3 inflammasome expression and ROS in the laryngeal mucosa using immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry. Laryngeal epithelial cells were exposed to pepsin and analyzed using flow cytometry, western blotting, and real-time quantitative PCR to determine ROS, NLRP3, and pro-inflammatorycytokine levels. RESULTS: Pepsin expression was positively correlated with ROS as well as caspase-1 and IL-1ß levels in laryngeal tissues. Intracellular ROS levels were elevated by increased pepsin concentrations, which were attenuated by apocynin (APO)-a ROS inhibitor-in vitro. Furthermore, pepsin significantly induced the mRNA and protein expression of thioredoxin-interacting protein, NLRP3, caspase-1, and IL-1ß in a dose-dependent manner. APO and the NLRP3 inhibitor, MCC950, inhibited NLRP3 inflammasome formation and suppressed laryngeal epithelial cell damage. CONCLUSION: Our findings verified that pepsin could regulate the NLRP3/IL-1ß signaling pathway through ROS activation and further induce inflammatory injury in LPR. Targeting the ROS/NLRP3 inflammasome signaling pathway may help treat patients with LPR disease.

RESUMO

Background: Locally advanced prostate cancer (PCa) carries a high risk of recurrence and metastasis after surgery, and the prognosis is poor. We explored the risk factors for locally advanced PCa among clinical factors (neutrophil: lymphocyte ratio, lymphocyte: monocyte ratio) and indicators of systemic inflammation [prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level, Gleason score, body mass index (BMI)] through retrospective evaluation of patients with PCa diagnosed at our center. The pathologic T stage was a key indicator of locally advanced PCa. Methods: Data from patients with pathologically confirmed PCa at our center from 1 January 2015 to 1 May 2020 were collected in strict accordance with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Clinical data were collected and the relationship between the indicators and the pathologic T stage was explored. First, Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to find the correlates of the pathologic T stage. Then, logistic ordered multiple regression analysis was used to identify independent risk factors. Finally, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to assess the diagnostic accuracy for the T stage of PCa. Results: After rigorous screening, the data of 177 patients were obtained. Spearman correlation analysis showed that BMI, the PSA level, Gleason score, hypertension, N stage, and M stage were significantly correlated with the T stage (P<0.05), suggesting that these factors may be involved in locally advanced PCa. Analyses of ROC curves showed that the PSA level [area under the ROC curve (AUC) =0.802] had greater value than BMI (0.675) for the diagnosis of the pathologic T stage PCa, and that a combination of BMI and PSA (combined AUC =0.822) could improve locally advanced PCa diagnosis. Conclusions: BMI and PSA are independent risk factors for locally advanced PCa. They may play a key part in locally advanced PCa.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Although right atrial (RA) myocardial deformation has important implications for patient diagnosis, prognosis, and risk stratification, its implementation in clinical practice has been hampered by limited normal reference values, especially in Asian populations. PURPOSE: To establish age- and sex-specific reference values for RA strain, strain rate (SR), and displacement based on a large sample of healthy Chinese adults using MR-feature tracking (MR-FT). STUDY TYPE: Retrospective. POPULATION: 524 healthy Chinese adults (287 male; mean age 43.7 ± 11.9 years). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: 1.5T/balanced steady-state free precession. ASSESSMENT: RA deformation parameters, including reservoir, conduit, and booster strain (εs, εe, and εa), peak positive, early negative, and late negative SR (SRs, SRe, and SRa), and total, passive, and active displacement (Ds, De, and Da), were assessed using MR-FT. STATISTICAL TESTS: Student's t-test, one-way ANOVA, coefficients of determination (r2 ), intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC), and Bland-Altman plots. A P value <0.05 was considered significant. RESULTS: Women demonstrated significantly greater magnitudes of RA deformation parameters than men: εs (57.4% ± 15.1% vs. 44.3% ± 12.6%), εe (37.5% ± 13.4% vs. 27.4% ± 10.9%), εa (19.9% ± 5.7% vs. 16.9% ± 5.0%), SRs (2.62 ± 0.88 sec-1 vs. 2.00 ± 0.63 sec-1 ), SRe (-2.98 ± 1.26 sec-1 vs. -2.16 ± 0.92 sec-1 ), SRa (-2.28 ± 0.75 sec-1 vs. -1.84 ± 0.62 sec-1 ), Ds (-7.80 ± 1.90 mm vs. -7.46 ± 1.70 mm), and De (-4.84 ± 1.31 mm vs. -4.49 ± 1.21 mm). For both sexes, aging was significantly associated with decreased RA reservoir and conduit function (εs, SRs, Ds, εe, SRe, and De), and with increased εa and Da. RA deformation measurements had good to excellent intraobserver and interobserver reproducibility, with ICCs ranging from to 0.790 to 0.972. DATA CONCLUSION: This study provides age- and sex-specific reference values of RA strain, SR, and displacement based on a large cohort of healthy Chinese adults using MR-FT. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 3 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 2.

RESUMO

The effect of microplastics on the ecological environment and human health has become a topical issue, and research on the risks and harmful effects of MPs on human health in particular has attracted widespread attention. Due to the characteristics of small size, low degradability, and easy migration, MPs continuously migrate from the environment to the human body, and their main exposure pathways are oral ingestion, inhalation, and dermal contact, with the main exposure media being food, drinking water, dust, personal care products, etc. MPs have been detected in organs, fluids, and excreta of digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, reproductive systems, etc. The abundance range of MPs in the human body is 0-1 206.94 particles per gram. After entering the human body, MPs can cause cytotoxicity, mitochondrial toxicity, DNA damage, cell membrane damage, and other effects on human cells and organs, leading to serious consequences such as local inflammation, ecological imbalance, metabolic disorders, etc., in various systems. Owing to their small specific surface area, they can also adsorb pollutants such as heavy metals, organic pollutants, antibiotics, pathogens, and harmful microorganisms, causing combined toxicity and immunotoxicity. In the end, we highlighted general deficiencies in existing studies and provided directions for future research on the influence of MPs on human health.

RESUMO

Background Right atrial (RA) function strain is increasingly acknowledged as an important predictor of adverse events in patients with diverse cardiovascular conditions. However, the prognostic value of RA strain in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) remains uncertain. Purpose To evaluate the prognostic value of RA strain derived from cardiac MRI (CMR) feature tracking (FT) in patients with DCM. Materials and Methods This multicenter, retrospective study included consecutive adult patients with DCM who underwent CMR between June 2010 and May 2022. RA strain parameters were obtained using CMR FT. The primary end points were sudden or cardiac death or heart transplant. Cox regression analysis was used to determine the association of variables with outcomes. Incremental prognostic value was evaluated using C indexes and likelihood ratio tests. Results A total of 526 patients with DCM (mean age, 51 years ± 15 [SD]; 381 male) were included. During a median follow-up of 41 months, 79 patients with DCM reached the primary end points. At univariable analysis, RA conduit strain was associated with the primary end points (hazard ratio [HR], 0.82 [95% CI: 0.76, 0.87]; P < .001). In multivariable Cox analysis, RA conduit strain was an independent predictor for the primary end points (HR, 0.83 [95% CI: 0.77, 0.90]; P < .001). A model combining RA conduit strain with other clinical and conventional imaging risk factors (C statistic, 0.80; likelihood ratio, 92.54) showed improved discrimination and calibration for the primary end points compared with models with clinical variables (C statistic, 0.71; likelihood ratio, 37.12; both P < .001) or clinical and imaging variables (C statistic, 0.75; likelihood ratio, 64.69; both P < .001). Conclusion CMR FT-derived RA conduit strain was an independent predictor of adverse outcomes among patients with DCM, providing incremental prognostic value when combined in a model with clinical and conventional CMR risk factors. RESUMO

Purpose: The objective of this study was to investigate the epidemiological characteristics, distribution of isolates, prevailing patterns, and antibiotic susceptibility of bacterial keratitis (BK) in a Tertiary Referral Hospital located in Southwest China. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 660 cases of bacterial keratitis occurring between January 2015 and December 2022. The demographic data, predisposing factors, microbial findings, and antibiotic sensitivity profiles were examined. Results: Corneal trauma emerged as the most prevalent predisposing factor, accounting for 37.1% of cases. Among these cases, bacterial culture results were positive in 318 cases, 68 species of bacteria were identified. The most common Gram-Positive bacteria isolated overall was the staphylococcus epidermis and the most common Gram-Negative bacteria isolated was Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococci accounted for 18.1% of all Gram-Positive bacteria. The detection rate of P. aeruginosa showed an increasing trend over time (Rs=0.738, P=0.037). There was a significant decrease in the percentage of Gram-Negative microorganisms over time (Rs=0.743, P=0.035). The sensitivity of Gram-Positive bacteria to linezolid, vancomycin, tigecycline, quinupristin/dalfopristin, and rifampicin was over 98%. The sensitivity rates of Gram-Negative bacteria to amikacin, meropenem, piperacillin/tazobactam, cefoperazone sodium/sulbactam, ceftazidime, and cefepime were all above 85%. In patients with a history of vegetative trauma, the possibility of BK should be taken into account in addition to the focus on fungal keratitis. Conclusion: The microbial composition primarily consists of Gram-Positive cocci and Gram-Negative bacilli. Among the Gram-Positive bacteria, S. epidermidis and Streptococcus pneumoniae are the most frequently encountered, while P. aeruginosa is the predominant Gram-Negative bacteria. To combat Gram-Positive bacteria, vancomycin, linezolid, and rifampicin are considered excellent antimicrobial agents. When targeting Gram-Negative pathogens, third-generation cephalosporins exhibit superior sensitivity compared to first and second-generation counterparts. As an initial empirical treatment for severe cases of bacterial keratitis and those unresponsive to fourth-generation fluoroquinolones in community settings, the combination therapy of vancomycin and tobramycin is a justifiable approach. Bacterial keratitis can be better managed by understanding the local etiology and antibacterial drug susceptibility patterns.

RESUMO

Heterospecific pollen (HP) deposition varies widely among species in communities, which has been explicated by two adaptation strategies: HP avoidance and HP tolerance. Studies of the plant-pollinator network have uncovered that oceanic island communities are highly generalized and strongly connected. It remains unclear, however, which strategy prevails in such communities. We examined stigma pollen deposition on 29 plant species, and assessed patterns of HP load size and diversity in the Yongxing Island community. We assessed the effects of phenotypic specialization and species-level network structural properties of plant species on pollen deposition among species. The hypothesis of three accrual patterns of HP within species was tested by illustrating the relationship between conspecific pollen (CP) and HP receipt. Extensive variation occurred among species in HP receipt, while 75.9% of species received less than 10% HP and one species received more than 40% HP throughout the community. Flower size strongly drives the variation of HP receipt, while network structural properties had no effect on the pollen receipt. Nineteen species showed no relationship between the number of HP and CP loads, and they received smaller HP load sizes and lower HP proportions. Most plant species evolved HP avoidance strategy, and HP receipt was an occasional event for most plant species in the generalized community. HP and CP receipts are independent of each other in plant species with the HP avoidance mechanism. Our results highlight that plants in the generalized pollination system may preferentially select to minimize the HP load on stigmas.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This case report documents a case of malignant pheochromocytoma manifested as vision changes with lung metastasis and recurrence. CASE PRESENTATION: A 10-year-old Han Chinese girl presented with vision changes and was eventually diagnosed with pheochromocytoma by contrast-enhanced computed tomography, urine vanillylmandelic acid. After medication for hypertension and surgery, clinical symptoms disappeared. Malignant pheochromocytoma with lung metastasis was confirmed histologically using the Pheochromocytoma of the Adrenal Gland Scaled Score scoring system and genetically with succinate dehydrogenase complex iron sulfur subunit B mutation, and 3 months later, unplanned surgery was performed because of the high risks and signs of recurrence. She is asymptomatic as of the writing of this case report. Our patient's case highlights the importance of considering a diagnosis of malignant pheochromocytoma, and long-term follow-up for possible recurrence. CONCLUSION: Although there are well-recognized classic clinical manifestations associated with pheochromocytoma, atypical presentation, such as vision changes in children, should be considered. In addition, malignant pheochromocytoma children with a high Pheochromocytoma of the Adrenal Gland Scaled Score and succinate dehydrogenase complex iron sulfur subunit B mutation require a long-term follow-up or even unplanned surgery because of the higher risk of recurrence.

RESUMO

RATIONALE: ADB-FUBIATA is one of the most recently identified new psychoactive substance (NPS) of synthetic cannabinoids. The co-use of in vitro (human liver microsomes) and in vivo (zebrafish) models offers abundant metabolites and may give a deep insight into the metabolism of NPS. METHODS: In vivo and in vitro metabolic studies of new synthetic cannabinoid ADB-FUBIATA were carried out using zebrafish and pooled human liver microsome models. Metabilites were structurally characterized by liquid chromatography-high-resolution mass spectrometry. RESULTS: In total, 18 metabolites were discovered and identified in the pooled human liver microsomes and zebrafish, including seventeen phase I metabolites and one phase II metabolite. The main metabolic pathways of ADB-FUBIATA were hydroxylation, dehydrogenation, N-dealkylation, amide hydrolysis, glucuronidation, and combination thereof. CONCLUSION: Hydroxylated metabolites can be recommended as metabolic markers for ADB-FUBIATA because of the structural characteristics and high intensity. These metabolism characteristics of ADB-FUBIATA were useful for its further forensic or clinical related investigations.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Intertrochanteric fractures undergoing proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) surgery are associated with significant hidden blood loss. This study aimed to explore whether intramedullary administration of tranexamic acid (TXA) can reduce bleeding in PFNA surgery for intertrochanteric fractures in elderly individuals. METHODS: A randomized controlled trial was conducted from January 2019 to December 2022. Patients aged over 60 years with intertrochanteric fractures who underwent intramedullary fixation surgery with PFNA were eligible for inclusion and grouped according to random numbers. A total of 249 patients were initially enrolled, of which 83 were randomly allocated to the TXA group and 82 were allocated to the saline group. The TXA group received intramedullary perfusion of TXA after the bone marrow was reamed. The primary outcomes were total peri-operative blood loss and post-operative transfusion rate. The occurrence of adverse events was also recorded. Continuous data was analyzed by unpaired t-test or Mann-Whitney U test, and categorical data was analyzed by Pearson Chi-square test. RESULTS: The total peri-operative blood loss (mL) in the TXA group was significantly lower than that in the saline group (577.23 ± 358.02 vs. 716.89 ± 420.30, p = 0.031). The post-operative transfusion rate was 30.67 % in the TXA group and 47.95 % in the saline group (p = 0.031). The extent of post-operative deep venous thrombosis and the 3-month mortality rate were similar between the 2 groups. CONCLUSION: We observed that intramedullary administration of TXA in PFNA surgery for intertrochanteric fractures in elderly individuals resulted in less peri-operative blood loss and decreased transfusion rate, without any adverse effects, and is, thus, recommended.

RESUMO

We investigated 1805 cases of breast abscesses during lactation to estimate the risk factors for multiple breast abscesses during lactation. A total of 2000 cases of breast abscesses during lactation were investigated using an online questionnaire, and 1805 cases with complete data were analyzed. The survey response rate was 90%. According to the number of abscesses, the patients were divided into 2 groups: single breast abscess (number = 1298) and multiple breast abscess (number = 507). Pearson chi-square test was used to compare the 15 risk factors between the 2 groups. Risk factors with significant differences were substituted into a binary logistic regression model to analyze the independent risk factors associated with multiple breast abscesses during lactation. There were significant differences between the 2 groups in (1) weeks postpartum, (2) separated from the baby, (3) breastfeeding exclusivity, (4) nipple inversion, (5) fever, (6) breast redness/swelling, (7) nipple pain, (8) breast massage by nonmedical staff, with (1), (5), (6), and (8) being independent risk factors. Patients under 6 weeks postpartum, separated from the baby, not exclusively breastfeeding, having an inverted nipple on the affected side, fever, breast skin redness and swelling on the affected side, nipple pain, and having undergone a breast massage by nonmedical staff are more likely to develop multiple breast abscesses.

RESUMO

Myocarditis is an important public health issue due to the high prevalence of sudden death in adolescents and young adults. Nevertheless, the early identification of myocarditis remains a serious problem for clinicians. There is no single non-invasive method to diagnose myocarditis in the currently available clinical guidelines and consensus. Molecular imaging is an effective approach for accurate diagnosis. Poly(lactic acid-glycolic acid) (PLGA) is considered to be the preferred carrier for molecular imaging because of its biosafety and modifiability. Macrophage membrane-modified biomimetic nanoprobes (MM-NPs) possess low immunogenicity and inflammation-directed chemotaxis capabilities and are repeatedly chosen as materials for targeted diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory diseases. In this study, experimental autoimmune myocarditis (EAM) was used as an animal model of inflammation. Previous studies have confirmed that this model is similar to pathological injury caused by acute myocarditis in humans. In multimodal imaging (US/PA/MRI), a phase-change material (PFH) and superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) are used as imaging substances. Early identification of myocardial inflammatory sites was achieved by the tail vein injection of MM/NPs loaded with PFH and SPIO. This probe is expected to be a powerful tool for clinicians to diagnose myocarditis.
